We also work with individual cooperatives and can help find solutions for financing, governance, and operational issues. In order for cooperatives to thrive, there needs to be a network of professional resources and experienced membership to help cooperatives overcome operational obstacles and use best practices to meet their goals.
Forums On Cooperative Issues
Periodically we hold forums on issues of interest to cooperatives to bring cooperative residents and experts together to discuss practical issues of running a cooperative and help formulate ongoing work to improve the state of cooperatives. Recently we had a well attended forum on property management and are planning our next one on membership selection and fair housing laws.
Policy and Legislative Advocacy
We work at the State House and at the municipal level to craft policies that recognize and support the needs of housing cooperatives in the Commonwealth. One of of efforts is with the Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act.
